AN ACT OF VALOR

This Day reminisces the greatness of Filipinos that had the urge to fight during World War II. It is commemorated every 9th day of April in the Philippines. The day of Valor is considered as Public Holiday. There are small parades that happens in every municipality in the Philippines to acclaim the Araw ng Kagitingan. But actually, the main event of this day is the speech of the President to commemorate the heroism of the Filipinos and Americans.

                Its main purpose of this day is to honor the heroism of the Filipino and American Soldiers when the Japanese People attempted to own the Philippines during World War II. According to Timeanddate.Com 76,000 Filipinos, Chinese, and Americans were forced to surrender by Major General Edward P. King at dawn on April 9. At that day, soldiers were forced to hike to Camp O’Donnell in San Fernando, that was about 145 kilometers. It is known as Bataan Death March for the reason of many people dying due to starvation and dehydration.

                Despite all of the weakness and defeat, they stood strong and emerged to fight for the country. Araw ng Kagitingan the Day of Valor is to pay tribute for the heroes of Bataan who stood strong against Japan.
