Every province
has it own way of celebrating Fiestas. But, Ilocos Sur has a different and
delightful approach in remembering the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as a province.
Some may be aware that Ilocos Sur is known for having its very historical sites.
How do Ilocanos call their fiesta? Ilocanos call it Kannawidan Ylocos Festival.
Kannawidan is
variant of the Ilocano word “tawid” which means heritage or inheritance. Ilocanos
celebrate Kannawidan every 28th of January. Many events happen. Mega
events, Carnivals, Concerts, Political events, Awards, Ceremonies, Business
Conventions, Trade Shows, Conferences, Seminars, Sports Competitions, Private
events etc. One of which that became popular is the

“Food Fair” and “Trade Fair”.
Here, every city/municipality of Ilocos Sur is given a chance to show their
products to all Ilocanos. And the most awaited part of Ilocanos, the Saniata ti
Ylocos pageant and concerts. I can say that it is the most awaited part because
this is the reason why millennials love to celebrate Kannawidan. Who would have
not be delighted when you are given a chance to see and meet your idol? But
then COVID-19 came, and it affected us all. |

Since Kannawidan
is a tradition, it should not be taken away from Ilocanos. Despite the Pandemic,
the Government had an idea on how to celebrate this festivity during the
pandemic. Although it is not the same as Ilocanos celebrate it, but at least
Ilocanos are granted a chance to acclaim Kannawidan and not miss its province’s
tradition.

Fascinating, meaningful, eloquent and impressive are some words to describe your work. the title is also eye-catchy. I agree that Ilocos Sur has s different and delightful, grand, unique and colorful approach of festivals. Even though there was devastation due to pandemic, we are able to celebrate it in simpler but blissful way. Keep it up and Kudos!
